SUFRAMA
INITIATIVES FOR STRENGTHENING REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT BY ZFM
During these first three months at the head of the Superintendency of the Manaus Duty-Free Zone (Suframa), we tried to implement working methods that lead us to greater synergies between the different sectors and better conditions for regional development. Attention to the industrial, commercial, agricultural, bioeconomic and service sectors has been our goal in creating a range of integrative measures for the State.
Although the last two quarters have been challenging for the whole country due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the indicators published by the IBGE (Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics) deserve attention, which show a growth of 14.6% in the population of the Amazon industry between June and July, which exceeds the average (8%) and is the second best performance in Brazil.
It is also worth mentioning the approval of 52 projects by the Board of Directors of Suframa, representing around 2 billion reais of new investments, and the creation of more than three thousand direct jobs from the implementation of the project’s new production lines. In this sense, it can already be said that the IT and two-wheeler segments will generate equivalent sales in 2019, which shows the potential for economic recovery in the industrial hub of Manaus.
Although the moment requires prudence and caution, we are confident. We believe that increasing Suframa’s development efforts should bring more business and jobs, and promote socioeconomic growth across the country.
