Even with the recurrence of Covid-19 pandemic cases initially in the State of Amazonas and later throughout the country – the first quarter of 2021 marked a period of excellent results in productivity, exports and job creation in the Hub Manaus Industrial Area (PIM- Polo Industrial de Manaus). The electronics segment, including IT goods hub, once again was the main highlight with good performance.
Between January and March, the PIM had global sales of BRL 35.66 billion, which indicates an increase of 34.87% compared to the same period in 2020 (BRL 26.43 billion). The electronics segment accounted for approximately 49.5% of this total recording sales of BRL 17.64 billion and growth of 41.05% in the period. The segment also had an expressive participation in the workforce: out of 101,946 jobs created by the PIM in the first quarter, the electro-electronic pole contributed with approximately 40% of the total.
The results are satisfactorily evaluated by Suframa, especially considering the difficult context of the period in question. The forecast for the rest of the year remains very good, as the PIM presents growing numbers in invoicing and acquisition of inputs, which indicate confidence in the recovery of the country’s economy as a whole and in even more productive months to come.
