MARKET – E-commerce may surpass BRL 100 billion in 2020
The Brazilian e-commerce revenue should exceed, for the first time, the BRL 100 billion mark, according to the Brazilian Electronics Commerce Association (ABComm). This year, online sales may generate BRL 106 billion, which represents an 18% increase over 2019. Marketplaces, microenterprises and purchases through smartphones will contribute to this result. An estimated 342 million orders were made by 68 million customers. The medium ticket is in the BRL 310.00 range.
According to Maurício Salvador, president of ABComm, by the end of 2020 there will be approximately 135 thousand active virtual stores in Brazil, most of them micro and small companies (PMEs) that will open many job positions in digital marketing, logistics and technology. The association predicts that 37% of transactions will be done via smartphones and marketplaces will account for 38% of total sales.
