Manaus Free Trade Zone is booming in 2019
The numbers of the Manaus Free Trade Zone Superintendence (Suframa) concerning the performance of the Manaus Industrial Sector (PIM) from January to May this year are positive. PIM earned BRL 40.84 billion – its best result in the last six years –, generated 83,869 direct jobs (a growth of 1.4% compared to April) and leveraged production indices in representative items.
The computer goods sector of the electronics segment also had a strong performance in the first five months of 2019. With revenues of BRL 8.96 billion, it grew 24.47% compared to the same period last year.
These data – together with the improvement perception of the productive segment confidence index and other actions that have been taken to strengthen the business environment and the competitiveness of the PIM, such as simplification measures and greater agility of the discussion, fixation and alteration of the basic production processes and the revitalization of the Manaus Industrial District road network – allow optimistic projections for the remainder of the year.
From Suframa’s side, we are aware that the challenges are big, but the institution’s current management is increasingly confident in achieving success in its priority mission: to rescue the autarchy leadership and put it in a position to thrive, fostering the socioeconomic, scientific and sustainable development of its coverage area and the country.
