GREEN ELETRON: Retail as a strategic participant in the reverse logistics of electronics
From the Sectorial Agreement for the Reverse Logistics of Electronics, the retail became crucial so the collection and recycling chain of electronics may happen. One effective way to do this is to provide space for the installation of Voluntary Delivery Points (VDPs) in businesses, ensuring access to disposal for the population.
Kalunga, Casas Bahia e Extra são alguns dos varejistas que já têm coletores.
This is an important step for the reverse logistic in Brazil, mainly considering that the retail is the stage of the chain closest to the consumer. In Europe, for example, the importance of retailing in the cycle is increasingly emphasized, an advance that already occurs here.
But in addition to receiving collectors, retail should also provide reverse logistics information. Thus, the stores become agents of awareness. But not all businesses necessarily need to be a VDP, because several stores are very close to each other. But the participation on the system, divulging to the consumer the responsible disposal, is essential.
For this reason, Green Eletron maps the best installation sites, considering access and demand. Kalunga, Casas Bahia and Extra are some of the retailers that already have collectors. But, whether with VDPs or awareness campaigns, the important thing is to think about the strategic role of retail and ensure the reverse logistics of electronics nationally.
