GREEN ELETRON
2022: A TRIPLE CHALLENGING YEAR
2021 was a challenging year in many ways. For manufacturers, importers, distributors and traders of electronics, the past year had an even more special meaning: it was the first in force of the recycling targets defined by the Sectorial Agreement for the Reverse Logistics of Electronics.
Industry and retail have gradual goals for the collection and recycling of electronic devices, which will reach 17% of what was produced in the base year of 2018 by 2025, in addition to other actions, such as the installation of collection points for products in cities with more than 80 thousand inhabitants.
Thanks to the union of all these segments and, mainly, of the consumer, the most important link in this chain that involves many actors, we can say that the 70 brands associated with Green Eletron fulfilled the goal established for this first year, despite the challenges imposed by the pandemic.
The achievement is great, but in March all managers and brands operating in Brazil have to report to the Ministry of the Environment on the amount collected, and then we will see how much the sector, as a whole, has evolved. And this will be the basis for understanding the size of the challenge that we will have in 2022, when recycling goals triple.
What motivates us is knowing that, much more than goals achieved, we are contributing to raising awareness of the issue of electronic waste, helping to preserve the environment and move a chain of workers who live and depend on recycling.
