ELETROS: We are nearing the end of another year! And what a year!
2019 was a difficult time for the entire Brazilian economy. Brazil and the world are in transition, in transformation. Social security and tax reforms, liberal governmental measures, such as relaxation of economic laws, for example, have been taken, but we do not yet have the ideal environment for the real resumption of growth. We need to move forward!
Given this, our sector should fulfill the year within the expectation that we had expressed in early 2019, with high production between 5% and 10%. These percentages could be higher, but we still have millions of unemployed and lack the minimum predictability of actions that will be taken by the government, especially those related to trade opening and tax reform. The consumption is still retracted.
By the end of the year, we will have two events that greatly contribute to the warming of our industry: Black Friday and Christmas. The first one was definitely incorporated into our calendar. Companies have become accustomed to treating Black Friday as one of the great business opportunities every year. The consumer understands the spirit of the event and looks forward to replace their appliances and electronics. Christmas, needless to say, involves everyone and is the main date of the year. The fact that we have an absolutely in-control inflation and a low, and tending to decrease, interest rate further favors this scenario.
Full return of consumer and investor confidence is required. This return of confidence favors consumption, sales and production. As a result, it represents more jobs, stimulates new investment and even attracts foreign capital. It is a virtuous movement, which allows the resumption of growth and the general improvement in economic indexes. This is the ideal scenario.
This prosperous environment must prevail throughout 2020. As always, I am very excited and optimistic, I hope we all have a new year full of good news and that the country goes on a route of positivism that we all need so much. Our expectations are the high. We have been talking to our associates and everyone has the same feeling that the worst part, thankfully, is behind us.
