ELETROS: Another decisive year ahead of us
National Association of Manufacturers of Electrical and Electronic Products (ELETROS)
It was with a certain relief that we ended 2020, which has already marked history because of the most impactful global health crisis of the last 100 years that had important economic and social repercussions.
We were forced to reinvent ourselves in various aspects: personal, professional and in business. We faced a load of challenges that may have never been supported by the Brazilian electronics industry.
Soon after a stable, yet timid first quarter growth, we were forced to deal with a chaotic environment with more than 80% of our factories down, large lockdown shopping malls and a severe logistics crisis, which affected companies across all sector lines in the second half of the year.
This somewhat everlasting challenging scenario caused serious losses and a need to look for alternatives to stimulate consumption, as new means of sustaining our business.
We were very positively surprised by the good indicators, which showed reaction in the economy, revealing government hit, which allowed us to record a third quarter of strong recovery in our losses and an equally positive fourth quarter, driven by Black Friday and Christmas.
We believe there is a strong convergence of interests between the various economic sectors, as well as on the part of workers. Indicating that in 2021 we will have a more stable scenario with the continuity of policies to stimulate consumption and with prospects for economic growth generating income for all.
Nevertheless, the health crisis not only continues but has worsened due to the second wave that arrived with force in Brazil. In addition to other worrisome factors such as a diversity in the variation of the strains of the new coronavirus, making it even more transmissible.
Thus, if the need for immunization was already in the global agenda priorities, this new and more serious scenario gains a greater sense of urgency. We trust and rely on the capacity of the Government, including the Federal Government and the State Governments, to solve all bottlenecks, so we can meet this demand for vaccines and needed supplies.
2021 promises to be another decisive year for our country. We will use all our efforts and expectations to contribute to the restoration of our economy, in order to overcome this critical health crisis.
