ELETROS
2022 – A CHALLENGING YEAR
The year of 2021 didn’t go as planned for the electro electronics and home appliances sector, neither with the results they expected. Despite good first quarter indicators, in the second half of the year onwards, the sector’s performance reflected a decline in national production throughout 2021, indicated IBGE census.
Sales dropped 30% in volume, compared to the same period in 2020. Factors such as unemployment, decrease in income and strong inflationary pressure have undermined consumer confidence in the purchase of durable goods.
On the other hand, the fluctuation of the dollar exchange rate, the rise in the cost of electricity, the increasing price for maritime freight, and the upsurge in input prices made production in the country more expensive, affecting the final price of products to the consumer.
This entire macroeconomic context makes 2022 even more challenging, as we have an election year ahead of us, which should increase instability in the political field and remove from the priority agenda structural reforms that are necessary for economic improvement.
The solution for us to reverse this scenario involves policies to encourage consumption, adoption of necessary measures by our country to improve the business environment and minimize the impacts of the Brazil Cost. Without that, the economic recovery will not take place.
It is time for the entire productive sector, public authorities and the Brazilian population to unite and overcome these challenges. As Eletros, we will continue to believe in our country and strive even more to build a better Brazil.
