Eletrolar Show starts with 10% larger area in 2024
The 17th edition of the Eletrolar Show opened on Monday (15). The largest electronics fair in Latin America takes place at the Transamerica Expo Center, in São Paulo, and is expected to bring together more than 32,000 visitors by the end of July 18. In all, there are 36,000 square meters of exhibition space, 10% more than last year, according to the president of Grupo Eletrolar, Carlos Clur.
“We’re occupying 100% of the Transamerica exhibition center, and we should have an audience 30% larger than last year, so next year the fair should return to Anhembi, where it all began,” says the executive.
The program aimed at bringing in more buyers from all over Brazil, further increasing business opportunities for exhibitors, has been expanded. “This makes the fair one of the biggest sales points for products in the entire country,” he adds. In all, the public will be able to see more than 12,000 products and innovations on the stands of the more than 700 exhibitors at the event.
Exhibitors include brands such as Brastemp and Consul, Tramontina, Mondial, Fischer and Tectoy, among others. “Everyone will have the opportunity to generate business and expand strategic contacts, to strengthen the brand in the competitive Latin American market,” said Clur. Visitors will be able to find industry launches, take part in workshops and lectures with renowned specialists, as well as connect with professionals in the field and prospect for new business.
Sector Numbers
The year 2024 is already shaping up to be one of the best years for the sector, according to the president of the National Association of Manufacturers of Electrical and Electronic Products (Eletros), José Jorge Nascimento. According to a survey carried out by the association, sales of electrical and electronic goods grew by 34% in the first half of 2024 compared to the same period last year, with a total of 51.5 million units sold. “Four years ago we only recorded a drop in sales and now we’re growing again due to the improvement in the economic environment,” he said, referring to the control of inflation, the improvement in the basic interest rate and the control of public accounts. Despite this, Nascimento says that the sector remains attentive to the evolution of these factors, which are key to maintaining the sector’s growth.
Among the segments that stood out in the first half of 2024 was air conditioning, which recorded an 88% increase in sales. Small aplliances grew by 40%, brown lines by 20%, white lines by 16% and IT products such as computers by 14%, according to the Eletros report.
Nascimento also said that the sector is still negotiating with the government for incentive programs to rebuild Rio Grande do Sul. “We’re negotiating with the government to reduce taxes and fees, as well as offering more credit, to ensure that the population has access to the appliances they need,” Nascimento said.
Another concern for the sector, according to the executive, is the environmental issue. Especially given the possibility of there being a dried in the north of the country, which could jeopardize the arrival of parts in the production region of the Manaus Free Trade Zone, as well as affecting the distribution of final products. “The possible dried of rivers in the north of the country is a threat to the production sector, but we are already working with the authorities to mitigate the problems,” he adds.
