Brazil needs to rediscover progress
Brazil requires, at this moment, much attention from all of us. Everyone for his part, but working together so that we can move forward. The beginning of the year signaled a resurgence of the economy.
Today, the indicators, which have shown an evolution of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) around 3%, are being revisited by specialists and approaching 1%. And this is not enough for a country that needs to meet all expectations around the future, considering its extensive list of needs and therefore national priorities.
The constantly worrying unemployment rate, added to the lack of economic predictability, gives us an unfavorable context. All this scenario translates into uncertainty for those who intend to invest in the country and does not stimulate the consumer.
Particularly, despite a view that is always optimist, reality has brought me worrisome convictions. This is because, for the electro electronic segment, the demand for consumer goods tends to be a relentless thermometer on the Brazilian reality.
If there is uncertainty about jobs, opportunities and the future, consumers’ dreams are immediately postponed. This disrupts the economy, reverberates in our sector results and directly impacts the national GDP.
It is imperative and urgent to change this negative environment so that we actually enter into a virtuous circle. For now, we are living days where we believe that the Social Security reform will be the beginning of all solutions.
And it may be. It is a great step for the reorganization of public finances, and its success, in a balanced and isonomic way, can mean the return of the country by more productive ways, with more public investments in areas which are fundamental for the progress of Brazil, as infrastructure. The Social Security reform will happen and must happen as soon as possible.
Still, we have a lot more to go through. And the challenge will be to walk unceasingly, with a steady look forward, towards sustainable economic and social development, which guarantees enough stability so that people look at our country as a safe environment for investments and with prospects of prosperity.
Credibility, legal stability and the heated consumer market are fundamental for attracting investment, generating employment and, finally, rising from the bottom of growth curves.
We have a charming and challenging diversity of citizens and a lot of creativity and desire to grow again. The whole society has to be united and committed to the progress of the nation. Together, we will certainly make this current chapter of economic crisis just another small part of our rich history.
