2024: A YEAR OF ADVANCES AND CHALLENGES IN E-WAST REVERSE LOGISTICS
Another year is coming to an end, and I cannot miss the opportunity to comment on the hard work done and the advances achieved in 2024 regarding the reverse logistics of electronic waste.
This was the fourth year of the structural and quantitative goals for the collection and environmentally adequate destination of post-consumer electronic products in Brazil. In other words, to comply with the legislation, Green Eletron needed to collect and dispose of 12% by weight of all equipment that its associates placed on the market in the base year of 2018. That’s about 8,000 tons of equipment!
To achieve this audacious goal, strategic partnerships were established with retail, industry, and government agencies to provide more collectors for the correct disposal of items in all Brazilian states, in addition to many collection campaigns carried out in cities across the country, participation in events, press releases, and interviews granted.
The collection data for this year has not yet been closed, but what I can say is that regardless of the final number, whatever the result, it is an achievement, not only for us but for society and the environment. After all, reverse logistics allows transforming materials that no longer have utility into new raw materials, saving the direct extraction from nature. And may 2025 come!
