Perspectives and Challenges: the current scenario of the electronics industry in Brazil
The performance of the consumer electronics sector in Brazil in 2023 was important to revive the spirits of the industry, which has been facing a very adverse scenario in recent years. For the first time in three years, we recorded growth in sales. We exceeded the figures for 2022 by 15%, which is undoubtedly a promising result.
However, we shouldn’t overlook our record and a complex panorama of important challenges to be faced in the white goods sector. Although it recorded modest growth of 6% in 2023, there is still a considerable deficit compared to previous years. The same is true of the other lines that make up our sector’s mix.
The air conditioning sector, even with a 17% increase in 2023, is still struggling to recover its historical performance. For their part, the brown goods and home appliances line grew by 7% and 19% respectively.
All these figures, while excellent, are not enough to reverse the negative balance accumulated in previous years. To keep moving forward, in search of a more consistent recovery, we need to persist in improving the economic environment.
It is essential that we continue a macroeconomic path that includes a reduction in interest rates and that the government pursues well-structured economic policies, balancing inflation control with stimulating consumption. In this way, we can look forward to a more prosperous future for everyone.
