Reverse logistics: a competitive advantage in retail

Brazilian Association for Recycling of Electronic and Electrical Equipment and
Appliances (ABREE)
Reverse logistics has become an essential strategy in the retail sector, especially for electronics and appliances companies. By becoming a competitive differentiator, it contributes to sustainability and strengthens the brand image, creating economic and business opportunities. As consumers become increasingly concerned about environmental preservation, organizations that implement sustainable practices stand out in the market and attract an increasingly conscious and demanding audience.
Therefore, the reuse of recyclable materials contributes to reducing production costs, as components such as plastics, metals, and glass can be recycled and reintegrated into the manufacturing process. For retailers, the proper disposal of waste also translates into more efficient management and compliance with current regulations.
Partnerships with waste management entities are also an essential part of reverse logistics in retail. They ensure that the processes of receiving, storing, and disposing of post-consumer products are carried out adequately. Additionally, in collective reverse logistics systems, costs are shared among all participants, making the investment more accessible and efficient compared to individual models.
I reiterate that reverse logistics is a strategy that combines environmental responsibility and competitive advantage. Retailers who adopt it not only comply with the law but also strengthen their position in the market, contributing to a more sustainable future.
