New technologies require greater training in after-sales services for electronics

Executive director of the Brazilian Association of after-sales services in electronics (ABRASA)
With the advent of artificial intelligence (AI), electronics have evolved greatly, and not all consumers, especially the elderly, are able to keep up with innovations and make the most of their equipment.
In this scenario, after-sales service will be indispensable, both for installing the devices and for enabling the numerous functions and features they provide, guiding consumers with accurate information.
With an eye on these innovations, Abrasa has been alerting its network of authorized services to stay attentive to manuals and newsletters, seeking to train its associates through courses and training. The objective is to prepare them for this new niche in the market for the installation of these electronic equipment and in technical assistance to consumers. There is a growing demand for televisions and other smart devices.
Despite the socioeconomic difficulties, the policies applied to increase the costs of spare parts and components – which harms the number of approvals of repair estimates – and the increase in the costs of inputs and operating expenses, we will reach the same number of service orders (SO) in 2024 as in 2023. However, profitability will be lower.
