THE 2022 GROWTH OF HOME APPLIANCES REVERSE LOGISTICS
The reverse logistics of electrical and electronic products is one of the most complex, due to the plurality of existing products, different sizes and long-life cycle. But the main difficulty is the population lack of cultural habits to carry out environmentally correct disposal, which ABREE intends to accelerate with environmental education actions, and involvement of the entire logistics chain that participates in this.
The co-operatives and associations of collectors and recyclers, for example, play an important role in the process. As they already have access to discarded waste, they contribute to the proper disposal and reinsertion of recycled materials into the production chain. The collaborative economy created between these links will be the key to the sustainability of the actions.
ABREE’s expectation for 2022 is a growth in the amount of post-consumer products discarded by Brazilian citizens. In 2021, the first year of implementation of the reverse logistics system for electronics and home appliances in the country, we made significant progress. We have implemented more than 3,000 receiving points, serving more than 1,200 municipalities throughout the national territory, in addition to having opened reverse logistics centers in 11 capital cities. This year, the goal is to establish other partnerships to advance even further in the implementation and awareness of the population regarding the environmentally correct disposal of products that are useless or at the end of their useful life.
