What are the possibilities and barriers of Brazilian e-commerce in the coming years?
Over the past two decades, e-commerce has managed to overcome crisis, political challenges and tax issues to grow. The numbers obtained by the sector in 2021 due to the return of physical store operations in the Covid-19 pandemic, proved its strength: movement of R$ 150.8 billion, 19% higher compared to 2020. Thus, the question to be asked is: what are the possibilities and challenges to keep the area in evidence in the coming years?
The digitization caused by the coronavirus reinforced e-commerce as a sector that makes the crisis a lever to accelerate growth for the company. One of the reasons, of course, is the fact e-commerce is still recent. Thus, there are still great opportunities to be explored by both companies and consumers operating in the ecosystem. In addition, there is room for increased demand. Not to mention the technological evolution itself, with the arrival of 5G in Brazil.
But there is the other side of the coin, with challenges that need to be overcome. The main one is the reduction of bureaucracy in taxation as a whole. It is also necessary to encourage entrepreneurship for those who are still reticent. Not to mention, the unfavorable trade balance: our companies face foreign competition here and cannot sell abroad due to logistical issues. The path is long, but necessary. With everyone’s support, the sector will overcome obstacles and achieve sustainable growth in the future.
