Expansion of the Zona Franca Open Doors program
Coordinated by SUFRAMA in partnership with companies from the Manaus Industrial Pole and research, development, and innovation institutes operating in the region, the Zona Franca de Portas Abertas program has increasingly stood out for offering guided tours to manufacturing plants integrated into the Manaus Free Trade Zone model.
Starting this year, the household appliances segment – the most significant in terms of revenue and job generation within the Industrial Pole of Manaus (PIM), including companies producing IT goods – began to be represented in the initiative, particularly through the involvement of Samsung Eletrônica da Amazônia. In the first semester, Samsung opened its doors on two occasions to welcome representatives from the Associação Brasileira de Agências de Viagens e alunos da Fundação Bradesco – Escola de Manaus (Brazilian Association of Travel Agencies and students from the Bradesco Foundation – Manaus School).
These visits helped to promote the company’s product portfolio, such as cell phones, smartwatches, buds, tablets, air conditioners, televisions, and monitors, and showcased the complex technologies and quality procedures involved in manufacturing processes, including the use of autonomous robots.
They also facilitated the promotion of programs and actions to assist the thousands of employees working at the facility, demonstrating Samsung’s efforts to increasingly humanize relationships with its workforce.
Due to its growth, the Zona Franca de Portas Abertas program attained institutional status at SUFRAMA in January of this year. The expectation is that more companies from the PIM will join the program and contribute to this initiative of the autarchy.
