Promising prospects at the 313th Suframa Council meeting
Led by Geraldo Alckmin, who was in Manaus as acting President of the Republic, the 313th Ordinary Meeting of Suframa’s Board of Directors (CAS), held on March 1st, celebrated the 57th anniversary of the Manaus Free Trade Zone (ZFM) and was a testimony to the promising prospects for the economic development of the Amazon.
A total of 33 industrial and service projects were approved, of which 15 were for implementation, 13 for diversification and five for upgrading. Together, they represent an investment of BRL 1.2 billion (USD 249 million), are expected to generate 1.084 jobs and have an estimated turnover of BRL 6.4 billion (USD 1.3 billion).
The projects cover various industrial sub-sectors, including electronics, and includes products consolidated in the Manaus cluster, such as televisions and microcomputers. The electronics sub-sector represents the largest volume of projected investments. With eight projects approved, this segment will boost investments of BRL 695 million, including BRL 232 million in research, development, and innovation (RD&I) in the region, as well as generating 265 jobs.
CAS 313 highlights Suframa’s commitment to promoting socio-economic development in the region by attracting investment and creating job opportunities. These promising results represent a vital boost for the local economy and reinforce the continued importance of the partnership between the government and the private sector in building a prosperous future for the Amazon.
