RECYCLING: AN ALLY FOR THE ELECTRONICS AND HOUSEHOLD APPLIANCES INDUSTRY
The electronics and household appliances industry face significant challenges related to the proper disposal of its products after the end of their useful life. Recycling has emerged as a solution for recovering the valuable materials, such as precious metals, plastics, and glass, that make up this equipment. Instead of being improperly disposed of on public roads or even in dumps, where they can contaminate soil and water with toxic substances, these materials can be recycled and reincorporated into the production chain, reducing the need to extract natural resources.
Recycling helps to reduce the demand for raw materials, which can lead to lower production costs for companies in the sector. Another important benefit is the minimization of environmental impacts associated with the production of new equipment. Manufacturing products consumes large amounts of energy and water, as well as generating greenhouse gas emissions. By recycling, the need to produce new items is reduced, contributing to the mitigation of climate change and the preservation of natural resources.
In addition to the environmental and economic benefits, recycling can create jobs and promote the development of innovative technologies. The creation of infrastructure for the proper treatment of electrical and electronic waste requires skilled labor and investment in research and development of new recycling processes and techniques. This can boost the local economy and create job opportunities in Brazilian communities and around the world.
