ZFM ELECTRONICS INDUSTRY CONTRIBUTESTO BOOST REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT
The Industrial Pole of Manaus (PIM) closed the first quarter with revenues of BRL 42.46 billion, which indicates growth of 6.26% compared to the same period last year (BRL 39.96 billion). The performance of the IT and electronics goods segments was decisive. Together, they reached revenues of BRL 19.1 billion in the period and represented approximately 44.99% of PIM’s global revenues.
These segments played a fundamental role in attracting new investments and creating jobs. Until March, the factories in the Manaus Free Trade Zone added up to 107,000 direct workers, with around 40% of jobs coming from the electronics industry (including computer goods).
The positive numbers help to exemplify the extreme importance of the PIM as a driving tool for the development and elevation of socioeconomic indicators not only in the capital of Amazonas, but also in the municipalities of the interior of Amazonas and in the other States that are part of the area covered by the ZFM: Acre, Rondônia, Roraima and Amapá.
Regarding the progressive expansion of the benefits and virtuous results of the ZFM for all these locations, the new management of Suframa is committed to three priority missions, together with the Ministry of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services (MDIC): to promote the regional integration; streamline the internalization of the autarchy’s actions; and advance institutional modernization.
