SUFRAMA: Electronics and IT goods boost ZFM industry
The performance indicators of the Manaus Industrial Pole (PIM) for the first half of 2019, released by Suframa, show that the PIM is on an upward trend, with optimistic prospects for the second half of the year. Between January and June of this year, not only the industrial park of the capital of Amazônia invoiced the amount of BRL 48.48 billion – reaching growth of 10.7% compared to the same period of 2018 and its best result of the last six years – but also recorded expansion in eight of its ten most representative segments.
In this sense, special highlight must be given to the category of electronics and IT goods of the electro-electronic pole, PIM’s third largest sector in terms of revenue. In the first six months of 2019, this segment – responsible for the production of mobile phones, portable microcomputers and tablets, among other items – recorded revenues of BRL 10.65 billion, which corresponds to a growth of 20.1% over the same period of 2018.
Suframa is confident. These numbers could be even better in the coming months, not only in this segment of the PIM, especially given the more than USD 800 million in new investments approved by the board of directors of the independent agency this year alone and the initiatives undertaken by the federal government to simplify and improve the business environment.
At a time when the world’s attention is focused on the region, due to the environmental theme, we are convinced that the Free Economic Zone of Manaus continues to demonstrate its potential for business creation and showing itself as a regional development model capable of attracting new investments and productive niches and contributing even more to the national industry and economy.
