Barbecue for all tastes
Barbecuing is always a special moment to gather family, friends, and promote healthy eating. And, with the new trends, it is no longer a privilege only for those who have a lot of space. Today, the barbecue grill can be adapted and integrated into indoor and outdoor environments, large or small. It is now easy to practice the art of barbecuing meat or vegetables anywhere and without worry.

Barbecues are strong allies for a healthier and more balanced diet, says Moisés Botelho, Agratto’s marketing manager. “To get away from fried food, frozen food, and fast foods, they are ideal. They serve not only people who eat meat, but also vegetarians and vegans. There is an emerging group thinking about improving their diet through grilling, which leads the category to full growth.”

The largest consumers of barbecue grills are in the 25 to 60 age range, but current models cater to all ages, tastes, spaces and pockets. “Some studies indicate that people over 25 look for electric barbecues more often,” comments Jacques Ivo Krause, Mondial’s product and foreign trade director.
With the trend of living in small areas, the demand for products that take up less space is growing. “Electric barbecues have practicality and easy mobility as their main advantages, you just plug it in and have a
barbecue. They also do not produce smoke and are ideal for apartments”, says Adriana Denise Duarte, director of Cotherm.
As it is considered a national passion, barbecue leads the consumer to search for new products, which causes an increase in growth every year, assesses Gisella Andrade, product coordinator at Multi. “We have noticed that the barbecue grill market has been growing and showing a trend for more differentiated products.”
A versatile product for the preparation of several recipes quickly and with less smoke, the barbecue grill, besides being functional, brings beauty and modernity to kitchens and gourmet areas, says Karin P. Fischer, commercial and marketing director of Fischer. “The ease it offers and the search for a healthier lifestyle, combined with the trend of hosting at home, have caused the category to grow exponentially.”
Sales periods
The history of barbecue is closely linked to the union at the table, especially in the South of the country, with greater impact on sales. However, with the
advent of new changes in products and habits, the Southeast and Northeast are becoming more and more adept. “Barbecues are products that sell all year round; they go along with the commemorative dates. The second semester should represent 60% of the category sales”, says Stephanie Dias, product manager at Elgin.

As it is a product closely linked to the father figure, it is very popular on Father’s Day, Christmas, and warmer seasons, when gatherings and celebrations intensify, points out Mariana Stangherlin Rigo, administrative and marketing director at AND. “I notice a greater linearity of sales. An uncomplicated, portable and safe barbecue is falling in the taste of the population in general.”
The search for moments of gathering and relaxation at home has stimulated sales in the electric barbecue grill category. “The market grew in 2020 but had a slight retraction in 2021. The expectation is that it will grow again in 2022, especially at the end of the year, due to the World Cup, when people usually get together to watch the games and have the traditional barbecue,” says Neyliane Castro, product manager at Mallory.
