125th Canton Fair
Buyers from 213 countries and regions visited the 125th China Import and Export Fair, the oldest in the country, which presented the most diverse types of products. Known as the Canton Fair, it has strengthened China’s foreign trade and opening the way for greater dissemination and sale of what is produced in China and in the international market. It occupied an area of 1.18 million m² and had 60,651 exhibitors.
Held in Guangzhou in three phases, it exposed, in the first, from April 15 to 19, household appliances, lighting products, spare parts for vehicles, machinery, tools, building materials, chemicals and energy. In the second, from April 23 to 27, showed products of daily consumption, decoration and gifts. The third phase, from May 1 to 5, highlighted textiles and clothing, shoes and bags, recreation products, medicine and health.
In this edition, the fair maintained the refresh rate of 5%, said the deputy director general of the China Foreign Trade Center, Xu Bing in the opening. “We witnessed more exhibitors with their own patents, brands and marketing, as well as more products with high technological content and high added value.”
Multifunctional platform
The Canton Fair has been developing a work with the goal of being a comprehensive multifunctional platform to boost the development of China’s foreign trade. In order to do so, exhibitors are accelerating innovation and improving product quality, as seen in this year’s edition of the event.
In the presence of buyers, Hong Kong, India, the United States, South Korea, Thailand, Russia, Malaysia, Taiwan, Japan and Australia were in the first places. Professionals buying home appliances and consumer electronics accounted for 40.14% of total visitors; in the case of consumer goods, 32.63%; decoration, 28.7%; gifts, 28.18%; and textiles and clothing, 26.35%.
The international pavilion of this year’s fair was attended by 650 exhibiting companies from 38 countries and regions of China that presented smart, high-level and ecologically correct products. According to exhibitors, this pavilion is a fast track to develop the Chinese market and build long-term partnerships.
